SWAP IT SPIN IT BRING IT SCREEN IT (seattle)

Last year, on the second weekend of December, Hollow Earth Radio hosted an event that was referred to as the Holiday Record Swap. I was elsewhere in the country but wished very much that I could attend the event. This year, however, I have the opportunity to attend the event and experience a hopefully more intense experience than what I was told of it last year. This year the event is called Swap It, Spin It, Bring It, Screen It.
This year it will take place at the Vera Project, opposed to Healthy Times Fun Club. The issue with last years event (from what I’ve heard) was that there were so many people who showed up that crowds were overflowing into the back rooms where normally no one is to go. Another issue was that it was loud and that tabling vendors and attendees could hardly hear each other talk to each other.
This year with the even taking place at the Vera Project, it’s likely that there will be enough space and separation between some vendors and the musicians performing. Here are the musicians performing and a verbatim info about the event from it’s Facebook friend page:
- Dashel Schueler
- The Foghorns
- 1985 w/ full band
- June Madrona

On December 12th, The Vera Project, Seattle’s non-profit, all-ages music and arts venue, and Hollow Earth Radio, Seattle’s premier online independent radio station, are joining forces to host a one-of-a-kind fundraiser and holiday extravaganza: Swap It. Spin It. Bring It. Screen It. The Vera Project is transforming into a marketplace for independent music and crafts, along with live music, and interactive silkscreening. All proceeds help support music, art presentation, and arts education through the Vera Project and Hollow Earth Radio. The DIY marketplace will feature independent Northwest record and cassette labels, musicians, silk-screened show posters, vintage record dealers, local artists, craft-makers, and designers selling their wares throughout Vera’s venue. This is the perfect opportunity to find a one-of-a-kind gift just in time for the holidays. The event will also include live musical performances by Northwest musicians, Hollow Earth DJs spinning on site, a bake sale, a raffle for hand-printed posters, and much much more!
Original Vera Project logos will be designed by 10 local designers and made available to the public to silkscreen. No experience is necessary to silkscreen, and for just $5 a print, Vera silkscreen instructors will help attendees print one of the logos on any fabric item they bring; blank shirts will also be available for purchase.
Following the event, the Vera Project logo designs will tour participating Café Vita locations throughout 2009, with prints available for purchase.
Come join us for an opportunity to enjoy and support the Seattle art and music community!
