The series finale of Battlestar Galactica was this night. Chad and I were talking about it at some point during the night. This show took place sometime on March 20th at the Artistery in Portland, Oregon. My friends had just gotten back from tour and I missed them terribly. Chad (Emperor X) had been touring with them also and this night would be the first time I would see him play.
The performance style of Emperor X is that of a man with an electric-acoustic guitar and a hip-mountable amp. The songs tend to be about the public transportation system- mainly buses. He sings / speaks very quickly in his songs and walks around the room kind of looking at people. I say ‘kind of’ for the following reason: Chad is incredibly nearsighted. He legally cannot drive, even with corrective lenses. If you meet him and don’t know this already, you may be off put and think of him as an odd fellow who might bite you. He’s a really kick-ass nice guy who is also a really rad musician.
The Artistery was adequately filled and during most of the night people were sitting on the floor, hanging with their respective friends, kind of mingling. I was in the back bugging the hell out of Aaron and whomever were in his room / recording whatchamacallit.  I think it even has a fireplace in it.
This recording will be part of a four part live recording series featuring Ryland Bouchard, Hellkite, Stephen Steinbrink (French Quarter), and this recording.

He’s not, just a really kick-ass guy who is also bonuses as a really rad high-energy musician.
