Ben Barnett doesn’t play live much anymore. This seems to have been the case since Kind of Like Spitting disbanded in 2006. I’ve heard that Ben does play shows every once in a while and this particular show was one of those occasions (as of this time he has a band that I cannot recall the name of).
At the time of the show it was confirmed that Ben could play this show. Ben came in seeming in a rush to play on account of tardiness. He seems like he has a lot of business in his life and whatever that may be outside of his teaching at the Paul Green School of Rock. He had to split
If you haven’t met Ben Barnett, he’s a very syked fellow (also see: stoked). Super positive, would totally give you a high-five and/or hug, incredibly nice and respectful. When he came in I had no idea that he was playing. I don’t remember noticing him coming in. I set up the recording gear right next to the front door so maybe I did let him in but maybe not.
I ended up recording him a bit late and missed the first song. He covered Willie Nelson covering a Leon Russell song, played a Kind of Like Spitting song, an Andrew Jackson Jihad song and what I imagine his own songs that he’s come up with in the last three years. Although there weren’t many people at the show when Ben was playing, everyone there was very stoked to see Ben play. Like I said, it doesn’t happen to often.
This recording was also recorded on the same evening as Spencer Owen and Great Job.
