Bad Weather California

Bad Weather California

The story behind this show goes like this:

Chris Adolf wanted to play a house show in Seattle. I asked a few friends if they could host Bad Weather California but found out that Olympia was as good as they could get. There’s these things called Mikrofest’s in Olympia that are generally ran by some folks at Brown Interior Music and they happen at various times during the year. This wasn’t one of them but the show setup was in the same style; seven to eight bands play in one day. I believe that there could have been more acts that played but I’m not sure if that really matters for the time being.

The musicians geographical location ranged from mostly the west side of the state (Kirkland, Seattle, Olympia) with the exception of Bad Weather California, who are from Denver, CO. The even that evening ran from somewhere in the early afternoon to one in the morning in a great house that goes by the name of Chez Puget.

The basement has a very thin carpet that you can tell has had it’s share of liquids spilled on it. Thin enough that you wonder that if your cut into it a little bit you would see concrete. It’s a big enough room to have small shows holding anywhere between 20-30 packed bodies. It’s also a great space for rehearsals and recording having a few musical toys loosely placed on a few shelves, an upright piano in one corner, and several tape cassette players. Don’t stop yet, it also comes with a sliding glass door and a very very energetic dog.

Bad Weather California is laid back. If you feel that live during a show, it’s not a trait that’s part of a stage performance but rather it is who they are as individuals. It’s the “let’s have fun, no bullshit” feel that Chris Adolf carry’s with him that echos with the rest of his band mates. It’s that particular kind of attitude about the band that is telling of the authenticity of the members that compose Bad Weather California. Logan Corcoran is a drummer for both Bad Weather California and another band, Team Awesome. Logan is an incredibly talented drummer and comparing his drumming techniques to in both bands (in Team Awesome, he is what could be described as ‘tight’), seeing him perform in Bad Weather California displays that the band is a solid and relaxed act.
